ARGOS - William R. Imhoff, 65, of Argos, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at home.
He was born March 17, 1950, in Goshen, to the late Ivo and Alma (Ramer) Imhoff.
On March 19, 1970, in Goshen, he married Ada (Martin) Imhoff.
Survivors include his wife; children Eddie (Mary) Imhoff, Allen (Elaine) Imhoff, Ivo (Nancy) Imhoff, Ervin (Vera) Imhoff, Bertha Imhoff, Bernice (Thomas) Zimmerman, Waneta (Matthew) Weaver, Wilda (David) Oberholtzer, Florence (Justus) Ramer, Ruthann (Elam) Martin and Rosily (Adin) Martin; siblings John, Samuel and David Imhoff, Lydia (Warren) Weaver, Anna (Vernon) Rohrer, Leah (Eli) Martin, Emma (Roy) Martin, Ida Imhoff and Maryann (Kenton) Martin; and 52 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Enos and Ammon.
He was a farmer.
Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Tippecanoe Old Order Mennonite Church in Rochester. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Old Order Mennonite Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home in Rochester.

Marvin Jantzi, 96, went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2015, at Orchard Manor. He was born on July 10, 1918, in O'Neil, Neb., to Christian and Anna Kennel Jantzi. His family moved to Ontario, Canada, for a time, after which he moved to northern New York to work on his sister's farm. He met his wife, Violet Zehr, in Newfane, N.Y., and bought a fruit farm in Medina, N.Y. He farmed until his retirement in 1980. Marvin served on several committees with Farm Bureau and New York Apple Marketing board. He also served many years with the Gideons, distributing Bibles all over Orleans and Niagara counties.
Marvin and Violet enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota, Fla., during their retirement. They eventually moved to Vinecroft Retirement Community in Clarence, N.Y., where they were one of the first residents. Because of failing health they moved to the Willows and Orchard Manor. Marvin and Violet faithfully served in their church all their lives and raised their family to honor and serve God. Marvin worked hard all his life, enjoyed joking with his friends, and always liked to dress up and look sharp.
He was predeceased by his wife, Violet; three brothers: Dan, Vernon and Emory; and a sister, Marie.
He is survived by his children: Dawn of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, Gail (Ken) Brunk of Harrisonburg, Va., Larry (Barb) of Medina, Don of Boyertown, Pa., Beryl (Margo) of Harrisonburg, Va., and Kerry of Beavertown, Ore. Friends and family attended a memorial service on Sat., July 11, 2015, at 3267 Marshall Rd., Medina.

Bernice attended Havelock high school where she enjoyed playing basketball and was on the all state team several times. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye basketball fan, loved to watch her grandchildren at athletic events, enjoyed being a homemaker, and her church activities.
Memorial services were held March 7, 2015 at Hopedale Mennonite Church, Hopedale, Il with a second service at Manson Mennonite Church, Manson, IA. Burial was in Summit Hill Cemetery, Pocahontas, IA.

Richard C. Jones, 72, of Pottstown, husband of Donna J. (Quigg) Jones, of West Chestnut Street, Pottstown, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at home. Mr. Jones was born on November 7, 1942, in Pottstown. He was a son of the late Paul S. and Mabel L. (Christophel) Jones.
Before he retired, Mr. Jones was a construction supervisor for Sukonik Building Companies. During his retirement he delivered parts for AMS, Pottstown. Mr. Jones was a member of Boyertown Mennonite Church, where he served as a trustee. He was a John Deere enthusiast and drove tractors for Willard Geissinger in various tractor shows and parades. He loved spending time at their cabin in Potter County. There he loved hunting, riding four-wheelers, sitting by the fire ring and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by his children, Tami Lee, wife of William M. Scheetz Sr., Boyertown, Barbara Renee Schueck, Pottstown, Christi Yvonne, wife of Joshua Engle, Salisbury, MD, and Richard Todd, husband of Shannon (Layden) Jones, Oxford; his grandchildren, William Scheetz Jr., Sarah Scheetz, Rebekah Schueck, Zachary Schueck, Luke Engle, Nathan Engle, and Owen Jones; and his siblings, Paul C., husband of the late Faye (Slody) Jones, Silver Springs, FL, Ella Mae, wife of Glenn Freed, Limerick Twp., Ruth E., wife of John Butcher, Tomah, WI, Marvin C., husband of June (Kneckel) Jones, Limerick Twp., Linda S., wife of Roger Angell, Upper Providence Twp., and Leroy C., husband of Marie (Gehman) Jones, Douglass Twp., (Berks).
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald C. Jones, and David C., husband of Miriam (Ehst) Jones, Limerick Twp.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, at Boyertown Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Nelson Shenk, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Limerick Garden Of Memories, Limerick Twp. She was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 9 and all day Thursday, December 10 at the John Eash residence, 70764 CR 29 Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Friday, December 11 at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Amos Wingard and the home ministers. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.

Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in Germany. Frank was manager of the Pine Manor Feed Mill, had a logging business, delivered boats for Steury Boat Co, started Midwest Boat Repair and established Midwest Marine and Camper Center. He was a dispatcher and delivered motor homes for Gulf Stream when he retired. Frank was involved in the establishment of Elmwood Mennonite Church in Kendallville and served as regional director of Mennonite Disaster Service. He volunteered for several years doing maintenance at Mennonite Disabilities in Goshen.
Memorial services were held October 5, 2015 at Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen with burial in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen, IN.

GOSHEN - Franklin Morris Kauffman, 89, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, Oct. 1, at Waterford Crossing. He had been in failing health.
He was born May 26, 1926, in Kenmare, N.D., to William and Elma (Harris) Kauffman, the youngest of nine children.
He and his family moved to LaGrange County in 1938. On June 21, 1947, he married Evelyn Hostetler. She died July 4, 2012.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat (Danny) Yoder and Maryann (Ron) Shultz, both of Goshen; four grandsons, Rob (Sara) Yoder, Sam (Nicole) Shultz, Matt (Becky) Shultz and Derek Shultz; and nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ella and Ava Yoder and Abby, Hannah, Mallory, Hailey, Joslyn and Graham Shultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and eight siblings, Marvin, LeRoy, Floyd and Melvin Dean Kauffman, Elsie Zook, Hazel Hostetler, Iva Merrifield and Lois Franz.

Laban Paul Kauffman, 77, of Richfield went to be with his Lord and Savior at 6:47 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015, at his home.
Born on June 28, 1938, in Richfield, Juniata County, he was a son of the late S. David and C. Ruth (Graybill) Kauffman. On May 16, 1959, he married his surviving wife, Thelma E. (Kauffman) Kauffman, with whom he shared more than 56 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rachel Kreider and her husband Arnold, of Metter, GA, David Kauffman and his wife Orpha, of Millerstown, Dorothy Kreider and her husband Nelson, of Thompsontown, Gloria Bauman and her David, of Millerstown, Alvin Kauffman and his wife Karen, of Paraguay, South America, Timothy Kauffman and his wife Karen, of Monroeton, Esther Kauffman, of Richfield, a ; sister, Rhoda Grove, of Hanover, 46 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Naomi Weaver, Anna Mae Kauffman, 4 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Kauffman was a member of the Goodwill Mennonite Church, Thompsontown and a member of the Goodwill Mennonite Ministry since his ordination 1n 1969.
Laban was a farmer, who farmed nearly all his life.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015, from the Millerstown Mennonite Church, 731 Raccoon Valley Road, Millerstown, PA with the Goodwill Mennonite Ministry officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Thompsontown.
Viewing will be held from 1 - 3 p.m. and 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Millerstown Mennonite Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.

GOSHEN - Mary Elizabeth Kauffman, 92, of Goshen, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Greencroft Health Care Center in Goshen.
She was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Cassville, W.Va., to the late Noah and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Zehr.
On June 2, 1946, in Middlebury, she married Alvin Kauffman.
Survivors include her husband; children Verda (Dale) Beachey of Fort Myers, Fla., and Rich (Bonnie) Kauffman of White Pigeon, Mich., Kathy (Paul) Culp, Mary Ann (John) Lechlitner, Joyce (Vernon) Themm and Penny (Jeff) Bradford, all of Middlebury and Joy (Scott) Graber and Jan Plummer, both of Goshen; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Heather Beachey-Hayes and Janelle Craven.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, at First Mennonite Church in Middlebury. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury.
Memorials may be given to Middlebury Boys and Girls Club or the Middlebury Food Pantry.

Funeral service will take place from Old Road Mennonite Church, 5795 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap, PA on Friday, February 13th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Richard Buckwalter officiating. There will be a viewing time at the church on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Millwood Mennonite Cemetery. GOSHEN - Shirley A. Kauffman, 76, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 5, at IU Health Goshen Hospital after battling progressive cancer.
She was born Oct. 20, 1938, in Allen County, Ohio, to Fred and Mary (Heatwole) Stalter.
On Aug. 10, 1963, she married Merrill J. Kauffman in Elida, Ohio. He died Jan. 8, 2010.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy (Randy) Detweiler of Wakarusa; two sons, Kent (Carole) Kauffman of Fairview, Mich., and Steve (Lisa) Kauffman of Harleysville, Pa.; five grandchildren, Kayci and Micah Detweiler and Brianna, Janae and Bryce Kauffman; two step-grandchildren, Dominick Dilks and Jake Butler; three sisters, Carolyn (Raymond) Beggs and Janice (Morris) Roth, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dorothy (Mel) Troyer of Monument, Colo.; and a brother, James (ChloAnn) Stalter of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A Goshen resident since 1996, Shirley was a sales consultant and decorator at Snyder Paints. Shirley enjoyed hosting and visiting with her family and friends.
She was a member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, where she served in the church library. Shirley had a passion for being outdoors and enjoyed flower gardening.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 10. Pastors Terry Diener and Matt Yoder will officiate. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Burial will be at a later date in Clinton Frame Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Clinton Frame Mennonite Church for the library.

A Goshen resident since 1970, Joel was well known for his cartoon strip Pontius Puddle. He was currently working as content coordinator for the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C.. He was developer of Israel's Nazareth Village and Menno-Hof in Shipshewana. Joel was also an accomplished screenwriter for numerous films including "The Radicals" and the award winning Disney movie "Miracle in Lane 2" which he co-wrote with Don Yost. A graduate of both Hesston College and Goshen College, Joel was a member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen

GOSHEN - Joel Kauffmann, 64, passed away Friday morning, May 8, at South Bend Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 7, 1950, in Hopedale, Ill., to Ivan J. and Lola (Good) Kauffmann.
On April 15, 1972, he married Nancy Geiser at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart.

Jenna Kristine Keens

Jenna Kristine Keens, 30, of Harrisonburg, passed away on June 29, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Keens was born on July 10, 1984 in Orrville, Ohio and was a daughter of Eric David and Karen Hochstetler Shirk. She graduated from Orrville High School in 2003 and from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising. She was employed by Everence Federal Credit Union as a Member Service Representative.
On August 8, 2009, she married Geoff Keens, who survives.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jenna is survived by her sister, Kendra (Shirk) Forry, brother-in-law Kevin Forry, and nieces Leah and Alaina of Harrisonburg; maternal grandfather, Donald Hochstetler of Ohio; paternal grandmother, Erica Shirk of Pennsylvania; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly. Jenna was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Hochstetler; and her paternal grandfather, Frank Shirk.
The family will receive friends and on Wednesday July 8, 2015 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Lindale Mennonite Church.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday July 9, 2015 at Lindale Mennonite Church at 11 am with Pastor Duane Yoder officiating.

She was born March 13, 1925 at Perkasie, Bucks Co., PA to Norman Beidler and Mabel Wismer Lapp. Norman was born December 11, 1899 and died February 3, 1983. Mabel was born September 24, 1900 and died December 29 1977.
On April 24, 1948 at Perkasie, PA she was married to Wayne Daniel Kempf, who was born April 26, 1925 and died January 17, 2013.
Surviving are children, Donald (Shirley Good) Kempf, Ellen (Byron) Miller, David (Susan Walters) Kempf, Dale (Kay Miller) Kempf, Margaret (William) Swartzendruber, and Anita Kempf; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two brothers, N. LeRoy Lapp and Gordon Lapp.
Two brothers, Stanley Lapp, and Marvin Lapp, and a sister, Margaret Lapp Reimer preceded her in death.
Esther had fond memories of growing up in a row house in Perkasie, playing on the street with the neighboring children and visiting her rural cousins nearby. Esther was baptized and became a member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church at the age of fifteen. Graduating from Sell-Perk Consolidated High School in June of 1942, she then worked for the U.S. Gauge factory until January of 1946, when she moved to Akron, Pennsylvania and worked as a secretary in the offices of Mennonite Central Committee. There she met her husband, Wayne D. Kempf, and they were married on April 24, 1948 at Perkasie Mennonite Church. The couple first moved to near Strang, Nebraska to farm with Wayne's father, Roy Kempf. Living in an isolated rural setting without electricity and indoor plumbing was a challenge for Esther after growing up in a town with many neighbors and conveniences. In 1952 they moved to a farm east of Shickley, Nebraska, where they raised their family of six children. Esther loved classical music and the history of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where she lived in her youth. Her ancestors had immigrated there around 1720. She instilled a love of music in all of her children, and as an active member of Salem Mennonite Church, she was involved in music and historic preservation.
Memorial services were held September 19, 2015 at Salem Mennonite Church, Shickley, NE with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Her family includes two living sisters, Martha Justice of Cedar Rapids; and Olivia Abshire of Colorado; a brother, Lester Kempf of Iowa City and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Alice Kempf; brothers, Russell, Warren, Walter, Wayne, and John Kempf, and her dearest friend, Helen Spenler.
The second child of ten children. As a young adult she moved to Iowa City where she lived and worked for the rest of her life, over 75 years. She was a longtime member of the First Mennonite Church, she enjoyed quilting and was one who would help anyone in need; which she and Helen Spenler did often! Orpha' s wishes included that at her death her body would be donated for medical research through the University of Iowa.

Philip Nelson Kennel age 61 of Jonesboro, [Georgia] passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Mr. Kennel was born February 1, 1954 in Pennsylvania and grew up in Parkesburg, PA.
He was a member of Berea Mennonite Church in East Atlanta and a longtime employee of Burch-Lowe Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Christian D. Kennel and Gladys Hershey Kennel; sister: Esther Lamartine.

Paul M. Kilheffer, 87, of Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, PA, formerly of Millersville, PA entered into rest on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Ephrata Community Hospital, Ephrata of natural causes. He was the husband of Cora E. (Eshleman) Kilheffer, with whom he was married sixty-six years last November 10.
Paul was the retired caretaker of the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery and was also a farmer in Manor Township.
Born October 29, 1927 in Manor Twp., he was the son of the late Abram K. and Minnie H. (Millhouse) Kilheffer and was a member of the Conestoga Drive Mennonite Church, Lancaster.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, R. Elaine married to Curvin Weaver, of Reading, A. Kevin Kilheffer married to Edna L. (Hess), of Lancaster and Karen F. married to Carl W. Zook, of Quarryville; nine grandchildren and one brother, Harold M. Kilheffer married to Nora Mae (Shaub), of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by two brothers, A. Victor and John M. Kilheffer.
Funeral Services will be held at the Fairmount Homes-Wheat Ridge Chapel, 333 Wheat Ridge Road, Ephrata, PA 17522 on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10AM. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frank and Jonas Hoover; 2 sisters, Mary Martin and Lena Reiff.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 16, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the late residence, 481 S. Farmersville Rd., Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, at 9 a.m., at the late residence, with further services at 9:30 a.m., at the Groffdale Mennonite Church, 168 N. While Jennifer's stay on earth was brief, those times, and the positive impact that she had on her family will be cherished.
She was preceded in death by Paul Leinbach and Paul Kilmer.
Jennifer is survived by her parents, Shannon and Lou Ann Kilmer; four siblings, Jeremy Kilmer, Janelle Kilmer, Jolene Kilmer and Jaylon Kilmer; her grandparents, Irwin and Mary Jane Nolt and Vernon and Elsie Kilmer; her paternal great-grandparents, Mary Leinbach and Naomi Kilmer; and her maternal great-grandparents Isaacc Nolt and Harvey Martin.

GOSHEN - Sanford "Sandy" Kilmer, 89, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, at Courtyard Healthcare. He had been in declining health since August.
He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Foraker to Phillip W. and Ella (Kohli) Kilmer.
On Oct. 24, 1948, he married Clara Schwartz in Nappanee.
She survives along with two sons, Tim (Vanessa) Kilmer and Phil Kilmer, both of Goshen; a daughter, Melody (Robert) Woodard, Fruitland Park, Fla.; a son-in-law, Tim Troutman of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jo Ella Troutman; and four siblings, Anna Mabel Kilmer, Wilma Christophel, Marietta Bontrager and Willard Kilmer.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Kilmer was a longtime member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church.
He owned and operated B & K Sales and Rental and was a past owner of Three Oaks Trailer Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, and again from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the church. Pastors Terry Diener and Matt Yoder will officiate.

Surviving are a brother, Marvin (Pauline) King; and two sisters, Erma (King) Kauffman; and Ilva (Nafziger) King.
Her siblings, Harold King, Emerson King, Mabel (King) Courtney, and Maurice King preceded her in death.
Irene was a member of Central Mennonite Church her whole life. She was dedicated to her family, taking care of her own parents in their later years, keeping records of the family genealogy, and sending birthday and holiday cards to her numerous nieces and nephews. She loved to make crafts, which she gave as gifts and used to decorate her home. Her scrapbooks detail her many travels around America and overseas.
A 1955 Pettisville High School graduate, Irene held many jobs, including at Sheridan's in the early 1960s, at Style-Mark from 1978 to 1999, and then for Wauseon Woodworking. Most recently she worked at Central Mennonite Church from 2000 until 2014. She also volunteered at Care & Share.

GOSHEN - Maynard Jay King, 39, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at 9:54 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1976, in Elkhart County, to the late Melvin B. and Wilma (Mast) King.
On May 13, 2005, in Marshall County, he married Janice Hochstedler.
Survivors include his wife; parents-in-law Ervin (Ida Mae) Hochstedler; siblings Dora Ann (Verlin) Schrock, Freda (Nelson) Mullet, Marlin (Carla) King, Larry (Carolyn) King and Ivan (Amy) King, all of Middlebury, Gerald (Rose Mary) King of Topeka and Lamar (Linda) King of Shipshewana; four brothers-in-law; nine sisters-in-law; 14 nieces; and 15 nephews.
He was preceded in death by four nieces and two nephews.
He had been working at Veada Industries, New Paris, and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be all day Friday, Nov. 27, at Andrew Borkholder's home, 16769 C.R. 36, Goshen. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the same home. Burial will be in Bontrager Cemetery.

Peter D. Kinsinger, 93, of 406 Center Drive, Belleville, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born on Feb. 1, 1922, in Somerset County, to the late Daniel and Amanda (Yoder) Kinsinger, Pete was married on Oct. 29, 1949 to Nancy A. (Sharp) Kinsinger, who survives and resides at their Center Drive residence.
Also surviving him are: a daughter, Wilma Lee Mays and husband, Ted, of Spring Mills; grandsons, Damon Clouser and Chris Mays; four great-grandchildren and very special nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Pete retired in 1983 from the maintenance department at New Holland.
He was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, served as a longtime MDS volunteer and was formerly a member of the Big Valley Men's Chorus.
He was a man of strong faith that enjoyed helping others, going camping and deep sea fishing.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church with Pastors Alan Kauffman, Herb Zook, Gerald Peachey and Harold Sharp officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maple Grove Mennonite Church and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Dave graduated from Hatfield High School and then attended Eastern Mennonite College (now University), Harrisonburg, Virginia, for two years. He transferred to Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, where he received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering in 1965. Dave`s entire working career was in the Baltimore, Maryland - Washington, DC area, mainly as a research and development engineer. He spent many years at the Applied Physics Laboratory of Johns Hopkins University, Laurel, Maryland, followed by a number of years at the United States Postal Service, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Dave was a member of Hyattsville Mennonite Church, Hyattsville, Maryland where he served on various committees throughout the years as well as being the lead sound system technician. He enjoyed nurturing his children`s curiosity, traveling with the family, watching documentaries about space and working on a variety of home projects.

GOSHEN - Rachel Weaver Kreider, 106, 1300 Greencroft Drive, died Friday.
She was born May 28, 1909 in Goshen, to Samuel E. and Laura Johns Weaver.
She married Leonard C. Kreider June 20, 1933, in Goshen.
She is survived by a son, L. Emil (Louise) of Harrisonburg, Virginia; a sister, Eunice Regier (Robert) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Leonard C. Kreider; her brother, Arthur Weaver; half-brother, Stahley Weaver; infant sister, Esther; and two daughters, Anna Juhnke (James) and Sara Hartzler (Gregory) are deceased.
Rachel grew up on a farm in LaGrange County in her early years and then on a farm where the Goshen Wal-Mart now stands, after her grade-school years. She excelled in school as top student in Elkhart County on the eighth-grade exams and as valedictorian of her class at Goshen High School. She graduated from Goshen College in 1931 with a Latin major and English minor. After teaching English and Latin for two years in Roann, she entered graduate school at Ohio State University, where she earned a master's degree in philosophy.
She is probably remembered by most people as a genealogist, especially for the 850-page book "Amish and Amish-Mennonite Genealogies" that she co-authored with Dr. Hugh Gingerich of Washington, D.C., in 1986. The book, the result of nearly 20 years of research, presented the genealogy of all the descendants of the original Amish community in Pennsylvania for their first century.
Her daughter, Anna, compiled an annotated list of her writings in 1999, which is much broader and has 69 entries, starting with a 25-chapter novel that Rachel wrote as an 11-year-old. It also included her master's thesis, "The Validity of the Idea of Negation and the Problem of Evil;" a history of the First Mennonite Church of Wadsworth, Ohio; a history of the Wadsworth Chapter of the American Red Cross; a history (with Ford Coolman) of the Mennonite cemeteries of Medina, Ohio, County; "History of the Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana, 1920-78;" "A Genealogy Prepared for the Descendants of Lloyd and Adelia (Stover) Kreider" (with J. Evan Kreider); and many shorter contributions, including a number of articles in "Mennonite Life" and "The Yoder Newsletter."
We have been a family of teachers, and one of our favorites in the list, due to Rachel's comment about it, is "When They Rang in the New," a 12-page short story Rachel wrote for freshman English at Goshen College in 1928. The story was based on a blizzard the previous New Year's Eve, when many stranded motorists spent the night at their farm. There were also several short plays and in addition to her writings, many speeches.
The family will also remember her proudly for her strong and vocal advocacy for world peace, equal rights for all minorities and for government action to protect and help the poor. She believed that was a large part of loving one's neighbor as one's self, which she believed was at the core of what was required of members of the Mennonite Church of which she was a dedicated member throughout her life. Rachel was a member of both the Fellowship of Reconciliation and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom for 75 years. She often questioned her effectiveness and recognized her limitations, but was very consistent and very persistent about what she believed needed to be done.
A celebration of her life will take place at Eighth Street Mennonite Church in Goshen at 11 a.m. Nov. 7, officiated by the Rev. Brenda Sawatzky Paetkau. After the service there will be a light lunch followed by sharing of memories in the church fellowship hall.
At Rachel's request, her body has been donated to the Indiana University School of Medicine for teaching and/or research. Her ashes will be interred in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio, for the Leonard and Rachel Scholarship Fund; to Eighth Street Mennonite Church; to Greencroft; or to another worthy institution or charity.

Kreider, Rachel Weaver, 106, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died October 31, 2015 at the same place. She was born May 28, 1909 at Goshen, IN to Samuel E. and Laura (Johns) Weaver. On June 20, 1933 at Goshen, she was married to Leonard Cale Kreider, who is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Emil Kreider, married to Louise Kreider; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eunice Regier.
Two daughters, Anna Kreider Juhnke and Sara Kreider Hartzler and two brothers, Stahley Weaver and Arthur Weaver preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held November 7, 2015 at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth, OH.

Thelma loved her family, her community and her church. She was a loyal friend to many and was generous with her time and attention and always willing to lend a helping hand. She especially loved children and she delighted in watching and hearing about the activities of her grandchildren and neighbor children. She had a playful fun-loving spirit, an infectious laugh, and she loved playing games with her family and friends. She spent many years serving Stauffer's Mennonite Church in a variety of ways, including youth ministry leader, Sunday School Teacher and nursery worker. After graduating high school, she worked for Goodville Mutual Insurance Company for several years before marrying her sweetheart, Elvin. In addition to helping on the farm, tending vegetable and flower gardens, keeping the books for the family dairy farm, and taking care of the household, she found enjoyment working outside the home in various jobs.
Thelma is survived by a son, Glenn Kreider and wife Janice of Cedar Hill, TX; two daughters, Joan Buckwalter and husband Leon of Harrisburg, and Linda Metzler and husband Ray of Greeley, CO; six grandchildren, Jeneec Martinez and husband Johnny, S. Michael Kreider, Joshua Buckwalter, Shayla Buckwalter, Nathan Metzler, and Karina Metzler; one great grandson, Dallas Buckwalter; one great granddaughter, Marlo Martinez; one brother, Elvin Hershey and wife Patty; two sisters, Martha Yoder and husband Jay, and Helen Kreider and husband Paul. She was predeceased by three brothers, Leon, Paul, and Harold Hershey.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2nd, at 11:00 AM at Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon, PA 17042 with Pastor John Hunt and Dr. Glenn Kreider officiating. Burial will follow in Stauffer's Mennonite Church Cemetery, Bachmanville. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Friday, January 1st, from 6 to 8 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 and on Saturday from 10 AM until time of the service at the church.

GOSHEN - Emily Rose Kuhns, 2-day-old infant daughter of Joni and Lizzie (Herschberger) Kuhns, died at 12:58 p.m. Friday, May 22, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born Wednesday, May 20, at New Eden Care Center.
Emily's parents are members of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving with her parents are grandparents Freeman and Irene Kuhns of Milford and John and Mary Esther Herschberger of Topeka, and great-grandmother Lizzie (Ben, deceased) Herschberger of Topeka.
Family and friends may call all day Sunday at the family residence, 5282 W 900 N., Milford. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 25, at their residence. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Graber Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Kuhns and Andrew Herschberger.

FORT WAYNE - Viola "Vi" Kuhns, 85, died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21.
She was born April 30, 1929, in Apple Creek, Ohio, to the late Homer and Bertha (Zuercher) Steiner.
On Feb. 20, 1954, she married David Stanley Kuhns.
Surviving are her children, Curt (Carol) Kuhns, Tim (Denice) Kuhns, Gary (Diane) Kuhns of Goshen, Bonita (Rex) Lengacher and Cindy Kuhns; grandchildren Christy (Jeremiah), Stacy, Jeremy (Karen), Grant (Heather), Nicole, Jeff (Nicole), Jason (Sarah), Tim (Kylee), Jared (Jenna), Laura and Erin; great-grandchildren Annabel, Asher, Landrie, Benson, Corban, Maddox and Jaden; and siblings Roy, Marion (Ellen), Ken (Mae), Norma (Jim) and Clayton (Ruth).
She was predeceased by her husband; siblings Clair, Elno, Lee, George, Arlene and Dorothy; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home in Goshen, and for an hour prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, memorial service at Prairie Street Mennonite Church.

She was the wife of the late Henry D. Kulp who died June 3, 2009. They had been married for 69 years. In earlier years Sara and her late husband actively supported the church life at Spring Mount Mennonite Church and later at Ambler Mennonite Church. They then became longtime members at Plains Mennonite Church where they both served in various capacities and befriended children and adults for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel H. and wife Lorraine (Kratz) of Souderton and Gerald H. and wife BJ (Bitler) of Souderton, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Sara was preceded in death by a son, Jacob, April 7, 2000, her parents and her brother, Lester Halteman, sister Eva Godshall and an infant sister, Marian, as well as brothers-in-law Paul Weaver and Clayton Detweiler.
Funeral service was January 15, 2015, at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, Pa. followed by burial at the Plains Mennonite Church cemetery, Hatfield, Pa.

She was born in Ephrata Township to the late Elmer M. and Anna M. (Nolt) Weaver and was the wife of the late Samuel B. Kurtz who died March 17, 2006.
She was a member of the Hahnstown United Zion Church, where she enjoyed helping with fellowship meals. She enjoyed quilting, candle making, reading and spending time with her family.
A homemaker, she worked at the former Nichols Store in Ephrata, and was last employed as an Assistant Manager for the Reamstown Car Wash.
Alma is survived by four children, Earla Fay, wife of Pastor John R. Leisey of Lebanon, Rose Anna, wife of Pastor Earl D. Binkley of Lebanon, Mervin W., husband of Pastor Marilyn E. (Frederick) Kurtz of Willow Street, and Sandra Lea, wife of Wesley C. Jenkins of Seminole, FL; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Anna N., wife of the late Lester R. Sauder of Clay, Titus N., husband of Lizzie (Hurst) Weaver of Ephrata, and Mary N. Weaver of New Holland.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ike N. Weaver; and five sisters, Emma N. Garman, Nora N. Wenger, Rhoda N. Weaver, Bernice N. Nolt, and Ada N. Sensenig.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hahns-town United Zion Church, Glenwood Drive and Frysville Road., and also from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the church, with Pastors John H. Fry, John R. Leisey, and Earl D. Binkley officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
